About Ace Mann

In their career and personal life, Ace has always existed at the intersection of complex systems and human experiences.
Ace began their first masters degree in molecular biology and spent years studying viral genetics, neural pathology, and the immune system. Despite thriving in the lab, they recognized gaps in the system:
-
excellent scientists and academics with good hearts were burning out;
-
the educational content wasn’t designed for learner retention;
-
and the information in the public health sphere wasn’t getting to the people who needed it most.
Ace turned from brains to minds and began studying how the brain learns and shifted toward adult education. They started working with healthcare organizations across North America to help bridge the gap between people and information. Working with agencies such as the Cleveland Clinic, Teladoc Health, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Iris Telehealth, and Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services, Ace is incredibly proud of these collaborations.
Still seeing a need for more direct healthcare decoding, Ace graduated with their Masters in mental health counselling and has begun to unite their experience under one roof.
Whether they are helping a client make sense of a difficult diagnosis, supporting a physician through burnout, or consulting with an organization to design clear educational materials, their approach remains the same:
-
grounded in scientific evidence,
-
informed by lived system knowledge,
-
and delivered with deep empathy.
Ace understands the theory behind the pressures clients face—they speak the language and they’re here to help.
When Ace isn’t on the job, you can find them scuba diving with their partner or practicing their languages on the balcony with their large, lazy, and very spoiled dog. Ace’s “perfect day” would take place in northern Thailand and include a visit to an elephant sanctuary and a lunch of spicy khao soi.
About Medical Advocacy & Coaching
Navigating the healthcare system can feel like an impossible task. Too often, the healthcare system leaves patients feeling unheard, dismissed, or lost in a maze of medical jargon and institutional bureaucracy. Having spent nearly two decades in public health and advocacy spaces, Ace can help you understand your situation, make your voice heard, and support you through the tough times.
Medical Advocacy & Coaching is…
Medical Advocacy Coaching is a specialized service designed to help you regain your voice and agency. Together, we combine emotional support with practical strategy:
-
System Navigation & Education: Making sense of complex diagnoses, understanding treatment options, and resources so you can make informed, supported decisions.
-
Self-Advocacy Skills: Preparing for appointments, framing your concerns effectively, and learning how to ask the right questions without feeling intimidated.
-
Trauma-Informed Support: Processing the emotional impact, grief, and trauma that often accompany severe illness or negative healthcare experiences for both the patient and their communities.
You don't have to carry the weight of navigating your health alone. Ace provides the support, tools, and additional resources you need to advocate for yourself with confidence.
Medical Advocacy & Coaching is also…
-
Not Medical Advice or Diagnosis: Ace does not provide medical diagnoses, prescribe medications, interpret diagnostic lab results, or recommend specific medical treatments. All medical decisions, diagnoses, and treatment plans remain strictly between you and your qualified healthcare providers.
-
Not Direct Healthcare Provision: Ace does not act as a licensed physician, nurse, or clinical healthcare provider in our sessions. Coaching and advocacy support do not replace the care, advice, or intervention of your primary care doctor, specialists, or emergency medical services.
-
Not a Replacement for Your Healthcare Team: Ace does not work against or replace your medical team. Instead, Ace helps you prepare to collaborate with them more effectively. The goal is to support your voice, values, and questions so you can build a more productive, communicative relationship with your doctors.
-
Legal Advice or Legal Representation: Medical advocacy coaching involves educational, navigational, and emotional self-advocacy support. It does not constitute legal advice, legal advocacy, or formal representation in medical malpractice or legal proceedings.
-
Making Medical Decisions for You: Ace will never tell you which medical choices to make, nor will they make decisions on your behalf. You remain fully in control of your healthcare journey. The role of Medical Advocacy Coaching is to help you gather information, understand your options, organize your thoughts, and build the confidence to make informed choices for yourself.
"The personalized attention and expertise offered by Ace made such a difference in how I was able to show up at the doctor's office. I felt confident enough to ask for my needs to be met and learn how to translate them for my healthcare providers which helped me get the care I needed. I'm so grateful!"

Working in medicine, scientific research, academia, politics, healthcare, and other advanced roles requires an immense level of dedication—but the culture within these fields often demands perfection at the expense of your well-being.
